Winner

There’s so many different forces making claims upon my life,
I feel like a bottle in the ocean.
I know there’s one important message I’m supposed to tell the world,
But I’m tossed between devotion and emotion.

Sometimes I’d like to say the way I feel,
But I hold back the words I just can’t speak.
All that I know is that Jesus’ love is real, even when I’m weak,
Even when I’m wrong, I still belong.

REFRAIN
Is this what it’s like to be the winner when you lose the race?

Is this what it’s like to be a sinner when you’re saved by grace?
Is this what it’s like to get mercy when you know you deserve disgrace?
Is this what it’s like to be the winner when you lose the race?
VERSE 2
Well I stutter and I stammer when it’s time to speak the truth.
It never seems to sound the way I meant it.
And for every one that welcomes any wisdom that is left,
I’m sure there are two or three that will resent it.
